*Children aged 10 and over may visit the museum unaccompanied by an adult. The museum rules of conduct apply. Parents are liable for their children.
Free admission
With Raiffeisenkarte, Museums-PASS-Musées, Swiss Museum Pass, colourkey, BKB leisure voucher; for everyone on the first Sunday of every month.
We offer free museum admission to people in need of protection, asylum seekers, temporarily admitted persons with residence status F, N and S and recognized refugees (with B permit).

- Monday: 11am–5pm
- Tuesday: closed
- Wednesday to Sunday: 11am–5pm
Public holidays
The MUKS is closed on the following public holidays:
- Basler Fasnacht (Monday to Wednesday)
- Good Friday
- Swiss National Day (August 1)
- Christmas (December 24–26)
- New Year's Eve and New Year's Day (December 31 and January 1)
Accessibility
Our museum is located in a historic building. The entrance area, the toilets and the special exhibition room are wheelchair-accessible, the other rooms are connected via several staircases. Dogs are only allowed in the museum garden.
Kiosk & Shop
Has your visit to the MUKS whetted your appetite? Grab a snack or drink at our self-service MUKS kiosk. Enjoy your coffee under the lime tree in the courtyard or stop by for an ice cream in the cozy museum garden. You will also find our popular MUKS posters, fun games and selected gift ideas in our small but excellent museum store. Just drop by!
Schools & daycare centers
Free admission for:
- School classes up to and including 12th grade
- Daycare centers
- Teachers in preparation for their school class visit
- Accompanying persons in the respective care key*
- Pre-registration is required.
* 1 accompanying person per 8 children of kindergarten age or older
Families & Baby Carriages
Families are welcome at the MUKS! For space and safety reasons, access with baby carriages is restricted. But we won't leave your buggy out in the rain: Our museum courtyard offers covered spaces and you can also get baby carriers easily at reception. The changing table is located by the toilets.
Groups & Picnic
Groups are very welcome and we appreciate a quick call ahead on +41 (0)61 646 81 00 to let us know you are coming. Our exhibition rooms are small and cozy, but our beautiful courtyard and garden offer plenty of seating for groups or picnic with the whole family – including sun umbrellas and all kinds of ideas for games.

If you are coming by car, there is space in the parking garage "Zentrum".
